Pastels and drawings by Neil Palliser

8 June 2016

We are pleased to have received a selection of pastels and drawings by the Yorkshire artist Neil Palliser. These include his works centred on Northern Broadsides rehearsals of Shakespeare’s ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ made in 2000 and drawings from his ‘Dancers Working, Dancers Resting’ series made in 2002 with The RJC Dance Company.

Neil Palliser created images that were both powerful and poetic and was still making work shortly before his death in 2005.

For his retrospective exhibition the art critic Lynne Green wrote ‘Neil Palliser’s art reveals his fascination with the world in all its guises. The everyday and the extraordinary, the tender and the violent, the pathetic and the heroic, the mythical and the magical, were all examined and expressed.’
