Joash Woodrow - My City
Joash Woodrow was a visionary, semi-reclusive artist whose output of several thousand paintings and drawings was discovered only towards the end of his life - filling a modest suburban home in Leeds to the brim. After studying at the Royal College of Art in the early 1950's he retreated to live and work in the family home, emabarking on a lifetime's work with dedication and astonishing perseverance.
His work met with critical acclaim and a series of museum exhibitions soon followed. The Financial Times described him as "the genius of late 20th Century British art"
